Growing up in Pretoria, Melorie Jane started the afro-funk, jazz band called ALL the MORE, in 2012. The group performed at venues such as Hard Rock Café Menlyn, Marais Street Acoustics and +27 Café. The group broke up in 2017 when Melorie Jane moved to Franschhoek, where she started performing mostly under her own name in various jazz, funk and contemporary jazz set-ups. She released her debut single 'till the morning comes in 2017 and her EP Different View, performed by her quintet, in 2018. Melorie completed her Bachelor's degree in music at the University of Pretoria and graduated with her Masters in Music Performance (specializing in jazz composition and piano performance) at the University of Stellenbosch in 2021. Melorie Jane currently performs in and around Cape Town, and has featured at events such as the 2020 Woordfees at the Spier amphitheater, as part of the University of Stellenbosch Jazz band who performed with Anna Davel, Gloria Bosman and Lana Crowster. She has also opened the stage for CODA Africa and performed at various other prestigious venues in the area, and performed with her quintet as a student-act at the DSG Auditorium at the Standard Bank National Arts Festival in 2019. She developed a passion for South African jazz, inspired by the music of Bheki Mseleku, Tutu Puoane, Carlo Mombelli, Kyle Shepherd, Bokani Dyer and Nduduzo Makhathini, and the contemporary styles of international artists such as Esbjörn Svenssen, Amina Figarova, Snarky Pu
