Melomanes is an indie rock band from São Paulo, Brazil. It was formed in 2009 by three friends, Guilherme (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Matheus (lead guitar) and Felipe (bass and backing vocals). Initially it also featured a drummer. As it turned out, said drummer didn't fit the direction taken by the band and, after some arguments due to the lack of rehearsals, she was fired. The three Melomanes then recreated the band as a strictly indie rock act and carried on, in spite of the lack of a drummer. By the end of their first year, a set list was arranged with strong influence bands like The Strokes, The Hives, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and The Libertines. They intend to begin doing rehearsals and gigs in 2010, still looking for a drummer nonetheless, despite the many tries of fitting Khevin as the new drummer... The band name was created from an idea by Guilherme, who saw the word and liked its meaning (loosely translateable as "music lovers"). In spite of there already being another homonym band, the trio has no intention of quitting the name.
