Artist
Melina Nora has set off into the wide world. Leaving the small villages behind, she ventured into the urban landscape of Zurich, where she sought and found her place as a young artist. It was a departure, a farewell for a moment, perhaps for longer. But Melina Nora hasn't left her roots behind; they've always been safely tucked away in her backpack. Because you can take the person out of Valais, but you can't take Valais out of the person. And so, her musical journey leads this Zurich resident back to the origins of her work: Together with musician Nicolas Ruedin, Melina Nora wrote and produced her first EP, "Landtapu," in her native Valais dialect. In her songs, Melina Nora speaks softly of the loud, comfortingly of the sad, and calmly of the hectic pace of life. “My music arose from the need to create something raw and authentic,” says the mid-twenties artist, whose influences from artists like Maro, José González, and Joni Mitchell are clearly audible. With the demo of her first single, “Was Hokksch,” Melina Nora garnered nationwide attention, prompting national radio stations to secure the song for their daily rotations and festivals like the Winterthur Music Festival to book her for their lineups even before she had released anything. A promising start for Melina Nora, whose debut EP will be released this spring on Mouthwatering Records. She and her band will then embark on a tour in support of the EP. Once again, the artist is brimming with energy and excitement –
