Meena Cryle aka Meena is an Austrian blues singer and musician. She was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2013 in the Jazz / World / Blues category. Meena Cryle was born in 1977 as the third child of an electrician in a village in Upper Austria. In her musical family, she grew up with local folk music and began singing early. At 15, she founded a psychedelic blues rock band. After graduation, she worked in a women's home in Mozambique, traveling through Europe and the North of the USA. In Vienna, she finally signed a first management contract. She formed a band and gave concerts with various artists. She signed with the label Ruf Records and took with her guitarist Chris Fillmore in Stantonville, Tennessee, their first official album Try Me (2010). At the European Blues Challenge in Berlin, she reached the second place in 16 of the bands participating in 2011. In 2012 and 2013, she released the Berlin-based albums Feel Me and Tell Me. Using her full name she released a live album in 2017 and the studio album Elevations in 2019, again with the Chris Fillmore Band.
