Mecha/Orga is the project and recording name of Yiorgis Sakellariou from Athens, Greece. Since 2003 he has released a number of albums and performed his work internationally. The live concept is performing in total darkness, without use of any visuals. He exclusively uses field recordings, from passing trains to waterfalls and from refrigerator drones to desert winds, that get filtered and mixed in real time with a completely phenomenological approach. He is actively involved in the contemporary and experimental music scene in Greece by running the recording label Echomusic, being a member of the Centre of Contemporary Music Research, founded by Iannis Xenakis in 1979, and the Hellenic Electroacoustic Composers' Association.
