Back in december 2004, on a cold winter's eve, 5 young lads gathered in Oorbeek to play some folk music. Starting out with some traditionals, classic Pogues' songs and Flogging Molly covers, they played some gigs like ReeTROck 2005, Easy Summer and Uitblazen. Originally started out with Tim Briesen (vocals), Tsane Tips (accordion), Pieter Thijs (violin), Raf Rens (drums) and Warren Clara (tin whistle), McClovers witnessed lots of members leaving, and welcomed lots of new ones. The drummers had a tendency to leave as quick as they joined: Raf, Reemi, Smekke, Scalais, Stef and Roman were once seated behind the drums. Miek Briesen joined us mid-2005 on violin, Frans De Schamphelaere took up the bass in march 2006 en Pepijn Peeters hooked up as their seventh drummer 'round april 2007. Maybe the drummer-curse that once layed on McClovers wasn't all that bad. They locked themselves up in their rehearsal room and spiced up the band's repertoire with traditionals and new songs. Once Pepijn walked in, every single McClover knew that this was the drummer they've been waiting on since the very beginning. The current line-up consists of Tim (vocals & guitar), Tsane (accordion & vocals), Frans (bass), Miek (violin), Pepijn (drums), Pieter (violin) and Warren (tin whistle & bagpipes). With this instrumentation, McClovers distinguish themselves from every other band they're aware of.
