Maya Von is the musical project of Julie von Wachter, a singer-songwriter born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently based in Madrid, Spain. From an early age, she was surrounded by music at home: records of North American folk and rock played alongside Spanish and Latin American pop and rock—such as Maná and La Oreja de Van Gogh—as well as classical guitar, a direct influence from her mother. At the age of nine, she began studying piano, but at eleven she transitioned to classical guitar, the instrument that would become central to her creative process. Her first song was written as a gift for her sister prior to emigrating, and she has continued writing music ever since. At sixteen, she moved with her family to Germany, where she lived for seven years and continued to develop her artistic sensibility. In 2021, she relocated to Madrid, a city that quickly became both her emotional and creative home. There, she wrote her first EP, Luces (2024), an intimate release that served as an introduction to her sonic universe: indie pop with folk roots, honest lyrics, and a playful, approachable freshness. Her most ambitious project to date is Doce Lunas, a conceptual album scheduled for release in May 2025. The record is a journey through the seasons of the year—and the emotional seasons of one’s twenties—divided into four chapters, one for each season, with three songs per chapter.
