A Tennessean without an accent, Matt Klimas has no singular musical direction, other than infusing music with simplicity, directness, and experimentation. Following in the footsteps of groups like Yo La Tengo, his musics frequently meanders through genres and sounds. He founded and fronted the 3-piece indie rock group Kurosawa in 2002, which released one album then disbanded in 2004. After moving to Richmond, Virginia in 2005, Matt and graduate school classmate Ben Gaydos began the musical project Noun, based on found sound and the looping acoustic/electronic sounds. Along with Noun, Matt currently plays bass in another indie-pop trio, Louisiana Territory and writes under the moniker Snowy Owls.
