Where the light and exotic charm of Brazilian music meets the rhythmic tension of flamenco, there arises a space in which the two of us, Matama, move. Guitar, voice and percussion form an equal and complex unit of music. Searching for new forms of sounds as well as moving between different ethnic styles characterises the art of Matama. This music takes its listener on a journey where influences of various cultures and the those of various musical characters melt into a rich, exciting performance. While working with different casts (cello, percussion, bass, marimba, trumpet and horn) the musical journey gets even more colourful and atmospheric. Our focus on guitar, vocals and percussion creates the virtuous "machine" of Matama's rhythmic presence André Krikula - guitar, vocal Juan Rodriguez - flamencoguitar, bacvoc guests - percussion, bass, marimba, vibraphon, kalimba, horn, trumpet, cello Established in 1996 during the German-French cultural festival "sensaccion" in Durbán/South France. Every musician performs there with his/her own music project. For us the instant sympathy and admiration for the other's style of music led to the idea to fuse all personal musical focuses (Flamenco, Brazil, Latin and Afro rhythms) and create "Matama". Numerous concerts and performances have been given in Germany: Matamá, this means: - tour support for "Tomatito" (1998 in Bremen) - recording/production and presentation of the first album "Historias" by Minor Music, H
