Seattle-and-LA-based drone-pop-meets-dream-rock three-piece MASZER features David T. Rapaport (aka STITCX) and Jo Braley, veterans of a decade spent touring the world with underground indie-rock phonemes Reinwolf and The Mother’s Anger (Dionysus Records). After playing razor-sharp tours with Black Sabbath and The Pixies and galvanizing audiences at Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, and Sasquatch, the two musicians returned home. STITCX retreated into his LA lair with his home-frankensteined guitar/bass combo (“The Buitar”) and popped out a few months later with dozens of revelatory, emotionally expansive songs whose influences reflect his formative years in Tel Aviv, Seattle, and LA. Joining forces with Braley and Seattle-based singer Katie Blackstock, the newly formed trio took STITCX’s wide-ranging songs to shape MASZER's kaleidoscope of sonic textures and cultish dynamics. MASZER's sound is powered by pop and soaked in Middle Eastern psych grooves; their hooks showcase a raw affinity for the mythic parts of everyday life. The clear bond between STITCX and drummer Jo Braley manifests in their low-hovering, heavy riffs and epic arcs; Katie Blackstock mix in the magical brew is her vaporized vocals and iconic style. Having released the song and video for the desert drone anthem, “Fata Mirage” and full throttle live shows happening up and down the west coast, MASZER is gaining buzz as a stylized, spiritualized psychedelic force with real staying power.
