Master Mimz is of a most unusual pedigree as a rapper. She was born on January 19, 1985 in Casablanca, Morocco, where she was raised by her mother to follow all the rules. She grew up playing the piano but when times got rough, she turned to Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, The Fugees, and Salt n Pepa for an emotional outlet. At school she pursued her studies seriously, as she knew that higher education would be her ticket to escape her society's rigid expectations for a young woman. She had a particular strength in languages, which she developed when she moved to Montreal at the age of 18 to pursue a Bachelors in Economics at McGill University. Mimz finally experienced hip-hop in the clubs and understood the power and reach of this musical genre. Mimz later moved to London in September 2010 to pursue her Masters degree at LSE and, there, she seized the opportunity to take on her rebellious dream to make it as a rapper. It was in the basement of a small London club where Master Mimz came into being after crowds were gobsmacked by her performance of Jay-Z’s ‘Big Pimpin’. She went back, week after week, building a local following. It was on one of those nights that she caught the attention of producer and hip-hop artist Sterling Reigns. He was quick to recognize untapped talent and immediately brought her down to the studio where she crafted her trademark sharp and witty lyrics.
