There are multiple artists named Masquerader. 1) Masquerader are a Math-Punk band from Reading, United Kingdom. They embrace a stripped-back dynamic as a three-piece influenced by heavy genres, choosing not to include a traditional lead guitarist in their lineup. Instead, they consist of live-electronics and vocals (Danny Molyneux), fore-fronted bass guitar (Chris Fry), and complex drumwork (Tim Williamson). Rejecting genre confines and referencing acts like Show Me the Body, Death Grips, Rolo Tomassi, Glassjaw, Deftones, Tool and Helmet - Masquerader pull tricky rhythms, experimental synths, incendiary vocals and weighty riffs into a chaotic blend of Math-Rock, Hardcore/Post-Hardcore Punk, Noise, Alt-Metal and Experimental Hip-Hop. Masquerader initially established themselves by carving out a DIY alternative scene under 'Nothing Will Change Events', an attempt to resist the cultural scouring of gentrification and build underground community within their Reading hometown. As they honed a sound they spread outwards across SE England, gathering momentum that led to shared stages with CLT DRP, Death Goals, Bob Vylan, Poly-Math and The Byker Grove Fan Club. They also found an early place on the Arts Council England Funded 'Emerging Project', put together by Brighton's Small Pond Records, which has featured break-out acts such as Lambrini Girls and El Moono. The band self-released their debut EP NOTHING WILL CHANGE on the 14th July 2023. A DIY effort self-produced and recorded
