Masafumi Ezaki (江崎将史) is a trumpet player and composer in the Japanese onkyo scene. Born in 1969, lives in Kobe. Ezaki began performing in 1996, with a focus on improvisation. Redefining the trumpet as a metal tube, he has developed many distinctive playing techniques, such as microscopically picking up minute sounds from sources including the trumpet and household garbage. In the past few years, through both improvisation and composition, he has been exploring areas such as spatial organization using only common single notes, most often B flat.
