Artist
The voice behind Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks and Asleep At The Wheel, in 1973, Maryann Price was asked by the Kink's Ray Davies to come to England and record with the band. She stayed with the Kink's for a year, touring extensively and recording(she sang on "Preservation Act 2"). After returning to the U.S., she formed the Girtones with former Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks guitarist John Girton. 1980 saw her join the Texas group Asleep At the Wheel. She has since gone on to successful solo career based in Austin, Texas. "Lone Star State O' Grace" was released in 2003 and in 2004 Maryann teamed up with fellow "Lickette" Naomi Ruth Eisenberg for a live album at the bay area club Freight & Salvage, but whether it's boogie, ballad, or jazz, the unifying element is the one-of-a-kind voice of Maryann Price" User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
