Marwan Abado Oriental Jazz | Lebanon + Palestine Marwan Abado is a Palestinian singer, composer and oud player. Born a refugee in Lebanon, he later moved to Austria to pursue his studies. He is currently performing as a solo musician and member of various ensembles in Austria and worldwide. Abado´s influences range from traditional Palestinian music to jazz. The richness of his music finds its roots in the classical Arabic musical tradition of “taqâsîm”; contemporary Arab poetry and prose also play an important role in Abado´s lyrics; his texts often feature thought-provoking commentary on the political realities of the Palestinians. Marwan Abado is the best known ambassador of oriental music in Austria and one of those musicians who demonstrate that Austria is a land of music full of inspiration and interesting encounters. The native Palestinian has lived in Vienna for over 20 years and has played with many musicians from various cultures and styles, including among others Paul Gulda, Timna Brauer, Alegre Correa, Krysztof Dobrek, Franz Hautzinger, Eliott Sharp, Kamilia Jubran, Otto Lechner, Charbel Rouhana, Simone Pergmann, Sahar Taha. Marwan Abado was selected best artist in the category folk & world-international by the Austrian music magazine Concerto in 2005 (together with K. Dobrek, A. Biz, A. Correa and R.
