Artist
Martino Pesenti (Venice, 1600 - Venice, before March 15, 1648) was an Italian composer, organist and harpsichordist. Martino Pesenti was born blind and suffered from paralysis. He was a pupil of Giovanni Battista Grillo (old sources report Claudio Monteverdi). He worked exclusively in Venice, as a music teacher, tuner and as a musician, performing in musical evenings and dances of the Venetian bourgeoisie. He was good friends with the publisher Alessandro Vincenti, who published Pesenti's complete work in 1630 and called him in an exuberant dedication to the miracle of our century . Pesenti composed works in the concertante style, including a single book of sacred music . Known are seven books of madrigals, a book of arias with one voice, a book of masses and motets with one and three voices and four books with dance movements for keyboard instrument and partly for keyboard instrument with other instruments. Despite the development of his own musical language, Monteverdi's musical language can still be clearly heard in the 1638 Book of madrigals.
