Martin Heidegger (1889 - 1976) was a German philosopher. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. Especially his book Sein und Zeit (Being and Time, 1927) is very well known and is considered to be the most important philosophical work of our time. His philosophy as a whole revolves around the 'question of being'. His work includes reflections on the history of philosophy, metaphysics, truth, art, language, technology, nihilism, dwelling and poetry. Some of Heideggers texts were recorded, with Heidegger himself reading them out loud. These were mostly meant for radio broadcasting and were also released on cd. One of the most well known audio recordings is Heidegger liest Hölderlin (Heidegger reads Hölderlin), in which Heidegger recites some poems by the poet Friedrich Hölderlin, who had an enormous impact on his work.
