Artist
Marq Feist is the creative voice of Ian M. Welch. Ian was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1983 and began to study music and write his own musical compositions at a very early age. Primarily focusing on the works of Frédéric Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in his youth, he began to shift his attention to the works of modern and experimental artists such as Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Arvo Pärt, Brian Eno, and Harold Budd. Intrigued by the mathematical and minimalist qualities of their music, Ian began laboring to create music that blends those qualities with that of the masters of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras. As a result, his music melds the musical conventions of the past with the minimalist and innovative properties of the present. He has released three albums featuring piano improvisations: Campus, Of The Muses, and Within. He is currently working on five more albums that will employ the use of a wide range of instruments such as the harpsichord, glockenspiel, violin, guitar, pipe organ, and even a djembe.
