The Neue Zürcher Zeitung described Poschner as „the most promising up-and-coming talent“ after his sensational success at the Komische Oper Berlin where he worked together with stage directors such as Hans Neuenfels, Peter Konwitschny, Andreas Homoki and Sebastian Baumgarten. Markus Poschner’s first position as principal conductor led him to the legendary Georgisches Kammerorchester in Ingolstadt in the year 2000 where he stayed for six years – a formative time as the head of these marvellous musicians. Born 1971 in Munich, Markus Poschner initially studied at the local conservatory and later assisted conductors like Sir Roger Norrington and Sir Colin Davis. Awarded with the “Deutscher Dirigentenpreis 2004″ , he took over the position of 1. Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper Berlin in the following year and rapidly convinced the nationwide press: “…have not heard Beethoven performed so breathtakingly in a long time” raved the Tagesspiegel, “Extra applause again and again for the young conductor” reported the FAZ, “enchanting interpretations” praised the Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten, “ingenious”, announced Die Welt. In 2007, Markus Poschner was appointed Generalmusikdirektor of the Bremen Philharmonic and the Bremen Theatre where he is responsible for a remarkable audience boom due to his unique programme ideas and his outstanding work with the orchestra. Markus Poschner, moreover, an excellent jazz pianist, feels attracted by the unknown, the opportunity of crossing borders
