Artist
Mark Tavener (d. 2007) was a British author who wrote books and radio series. His most famous creation was Absolute Power starring Stephen Fry and John Bird - series about unscrupulous London spin doctors. This series was later transfer to BBC television. Another of his well-known creations was the character of George Cragge, the hard-drinking BBC reporter who starred in the 'In The...' series - In the Red, In the Balance, In the Chair and In the End. Cragge was co-created with comedian and writer Peter Baynham. His other works include: High Table, Lower Orders (about the staff of a fictional Cambridge college) and His Master's Voice (about a 'new Tory' working on a Tory magazine).
