Mark Sherman (born April 17, 1957) is an American jazz vibraphonist, xylophonist, pianist, drummer, composer, and educator. Known for his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist, Sherman has worked across a wide range of genres, from jazz and classical to pop and rock. Born in Manhattan, New York, Sherman began playing piano at an early age, influenced by his mother, who was a classical pianist. He later expanded his musical studies to include vibraphone and drums. Sherman attended the High School of Music and Art in New York City and later earned a degree in classical percussion from The Juilliard School. He developed a deep love for jazz during his time at Juilliard, which led him to pursue a career in the genre. In the 1970s, Sherman performed with several notable jazz artists, including Larry Coryell, Peggy Lee, and Jackie McLean.
