Artist
Mark Gibson is a singer/songwriter based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Even before he played his first note, the music was always there, trying to escape out of him. As a child, he would turn inanimate objects into instruments. Tennis rackets became electric guitars, couches transformed into grand pianos, and his desks in school metamorphosed into drum kits to the dismay of his teachers. His first guitar was a $25 Japanese model that he bought from a friend in high school. He instantly fell in love, and obsessively practiced the art. Singing soon followed, and in his late teens he started writing songs, and hit the open mic night circuit in Oklahoma City while attending the University of Central Oklahoma. After graduation, he moved to Austin, TX and formed the band meridianwest. He would spend the next 6 years honing his craft in a music scene exploding with talent. In 2009 he left meridianwest to pursue a solo career. In 2011, along with band mate, bassist/producer, Ryan Magnani, he moved back to his hometown of Tulsa, Okla. to finish recording his debut solo album “Beautifully Deconstructed”. The album was released on November 9th, 2012. Over the last four years, Gibson has built a strong following in Tulsa, OK through his infectious and engaging live shows. His new release, “Blue Eyed Soul” is the culmination of writing and performing in a city that prides itself on its music scene. Gibson’s music transcends genre.
