Artist
Marie-Auguste Durand (1830-1909) was a French Romantic composer. For the first part of his adult life, Durand occupied himself with composition and music criticism. In 1870 he entered into a partnership with Schönework, and acquired Flaxland’s music publishing business. This publishing company later became "Durand & Cie," which has specialized in the publication of music from French composers such as Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Ravel, Franck, Joncières, Lolo, and others.
