Maria Scombona is a band from Aracaju, Sergipe, in north-eastern Brazil. It makes a very unique mixture of rock, blues, soul and pop with local Brazilian rhythms. The lyrics are all very interesting and sung in Portuguese with the region's typical strong accent. Special mention to the work of harmonica player Julio Rêgo Vasconcelos on the album "Grão", who experiments a lot with different effects and introduces the harmonica in genres where it is not usually heard.
