Maria Cristina Montiel was born on April 7th, 1979 from parents of Nicaraguan American backgrounds. She grew up in Miami, Fl and began playing guitar at the age of 7, playing in local coffee shops in her hometown by the time she was 15. She moved to New York City at 18 and in 1998 she made a cassette demo which got her a few gigs at Sidewalk, CB's Gallery, and Baggot Inn in New York's East Village; where she was attending Parsons for a BFA in Photo. In 2008 she released "Ra" an 8 track acoustic album recorded in her studio in Easton, Pa; where she now lives.
