Maria Catharina Linnemann was born in 1947 in Amsterdam, Holland, but grew up in England. She developed an early love for English, Scottish and Irish folklore. She studied piano, violin and conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Since 1971 she has lived in Germany, working as a composer, teacher and performer. She owes her her love for the guitar to the unforgotten guitarist, viola player and artist Martin Nicolai, also an excellent composer for the guitar. Maria´s her travels have taken her around the globe, inspiring over 500 compositions for the guitar.
