Artist
Marcie & The Cookies was an Australian female vocal group who achieved some success in the 1960s. Led by singer Marcie Jones (born 1945; died 2025), who had issued five singles from 1965 to 1967 on the Sunshine label with some minor chart success, the group formed in 1967 when Jones teamed up with the Cook sisters (who were already performing as "The Cookies" ) in Brisbane. In the mould of such U.S. acts as The Supremes and The Crystals, and while only releasing two singles, the group was presented with the "Best Female Act for 1968" award by Australian pop magazine Go-Set and awarded the "Critics Award" for the top Australian vocal act. In 1973, Jones resumed her solo career. Jones continued to perform both solo and with The Cookies (under the name of Marcie Jones and The Cookies), in stage shows, clubs, concerts and tours supporting major overseas artists touring Australia.
