The music of Marbleheroes is influenced by movie soundtracks and rock music as well as the fat beats of trip hop. The band consists of violin, viola, two cellos, piano, bass, drums and vocals. The genre of Marbleheroes could be described as some kind of a crossover between classical music and rock mixed with some do-it-yourself punk attitude. By far the best way to describe the genre is to call it cinerock. (taken from www.myspace.com/marbleheroes) Causes and consequences On this page I’ll try to explain things that led to the forming of Marbleheroes and the songs on the Icicles Cracking album. The genre that Marbleheroes represents could be described as a distortion of classical music, or a crossover between rock and classical music. Neither of these seems completely satisfying, though. Our music is visual and often associated with movies, so we decided to call it cinerock, or as we say it in Finnish, kinorock. Marbleheroes got started when everything in my life appeared to be failing. For a while music seemed like the only positive thing which hadn’t let me down and it gave me a reason to go on. The making of Icicles Cracking was like an alternative reality and whenever I couldn't bear real life it was easy to escape there. The songs are not about my life in a concrete way, but they do describe my life during a certain period of time on an emotional level. The most important theme on the album is loss and all that comes with it – grief, denial, depression, mania, anxiety,
