Solo artists from the second and third generations of musicians who were initially trained in the Conchalí Big Band have been part of this big band project led by tenor sax player Andrés Pérez since 2014. Known in its first moments as the "historical Conchalí", the new big band soon took the name of Mapocho Orquesta, inspired by a neighborhood in the center of Santiago where it set up its rehearsal headquarters. But from that first creative proposal, the group took a step further by delving into educational music, with which they generated an impactful social project. The result of this was the release of a children-oriented album in 2022. The band has seen Italo Viveros, Mauricio Castillo and Ignacio Roselló on trumpet, Juan Saavedra, Marcelo Maldonado, Jorge Prieto and Alfredo Tauber on trombone, and Mauricio Lobos, Pablo Jara, Matías Aravena, Diego Muñoz and the leader Andrés Pérez on sax, all trained by maestro Carmelo Bustos. Meanwhile, the rhythm section was also configured with names from that same big band: Gabriel Paillao (piano), Cristián Orellana (bass) and Jaime Delgado (drums). The Mapocho Orchestra had its grand musical premiere at the Municipal Theater of Santiago on November 7, 2014, as part of the concert commemorating the twenty years of the Conchalí Big Band itself, and there premiered Pérez's work "Pausa ligera", with arrangements by Carl Hammond, director of the swing orchestra Big Guns. In 2016 they released Cicatriz, published by Discografía del Sur
