Manuel Sobral Torres is a Portuguese right-wing oriented protest singer. He was part of an important academic theater group in Coimbra during the Portuguese dictatorship in the 20th century. Along with other artists and intellectuals he was artistically and politically oriented by Couto Viana and Goulart Nogueira. Two important names of the Portuguese nationalistic cultural scene. Through the label Polydor he recorded a four song single called "Comício" which was forbidden by the censorship until 1974's revolution. Presently he continues to play on special occasions and he also participates on several classical choirs.
