Manta Donkey Hawk was formed in the spring of 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts with the idea of creating a instrumental power trio in search of a new sound. Guido Consoli, the Manta, brings from the deep ocean his expertise in synthesizers and vintage keyboards. Juan Mejia, the Donkey, tastefully adds the steady pulse and strong kick on the drums. Gianluca Girard, the Hawk, oversees the low end of the harmony with his intricate bass texture. The three come together to form a unique group, playing original instrumental compositions that span the genres of progressive rock and psychedelic jazz. Manta Donkey Hawk is characterized by their experimentation on odd meters, polyrhythms, unconventional harmonies and grooves expressed through a big range of timbres by the use of synthesizers, effect pedals and samples. Its members influence can be traced to their own countries of birth mixed under the umbrella of prog rock / jazz fusion.
