Mary Birch - Vocals Davide Serini - Guitar & Dobro Federico Basso - Hammond Organ & Piano Danilo Parodi - Fender Bass Salvatore Cammilleri - Drums Mama’s Pit spun-off of Big Fat Mama’s last line-up, the historical italian blues group: under this name they performed with Sonny Rhodes and Beverly Watson in ’95 at the “Arenzano Blues” festival. In ’96 they concluded the opening of the "Bordighera Jazz’n Blues Festival". Next they shared stage with Philip Walker again at the “Arenzano Blues” ’96. In july of the same year they played at the “San Remo Blues Festival” with Lucky Peterson and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown. Then at the “Sori Jazz & Blues” which hosted guests such as Joe Louis Walker and the Platters. In ’97 the band decided to change its name from Big Fat Mama to Mama’s Pit renewing their sound which is now a fusion of blues, rhythm’n blues, soul and jazz, thanks to the enviable experience of the band members. Opening acts with Robert Plant and James Cotton, and collaborations with Johnny Mars, Vic Vergeat and James Thompson incentived them to develop a sound that breaths black music. The new name appears for the first time on the “Narcao Blues” billboard beside Roy Roberts and Scott Henderson, subsequently at the “Castel San Pietro Festival”, Rome, with Johnny Mars. In the summer of ’99 they opened the “Tiferno Blues Festival” and the “Sanremo Immagine Jazz & Blues” as a backup to Kenny Neal and Art Garfunkel.
