Mama Shamone consists of: Simone Ogunbunmi (aka Mama - lead vocals), Flip X (guitars), Ru (bass) & Jules (drums). They were MySpace of band of the week Apr 2007, which led to Mark Ronson sending them a message through MySpace, saying he liked their songs, plus Radio 1 plays, from Rob Da Bank & Steve Lamacq. Following this they played BBC Introducing stage (Bestival 2007), where their double-set brought them to the attention of Genetic Records’ Martin Rushent. In addition to their live dates, they have also supported Bloc Party and The Rakes and played some of the filthiest parties in Berlin, including White Trash, Rio and the Fusion Festival. Mama Shamone battled it out, to win a spot at V Festival, as part of the ‘Road To V’ competition, played Glastonbury 2008 & released their début, Over EP. They were Metro newspaper's 'One to Watch' & one of Time Out's 'On The Up' bands (featured in their 2008 festival).
