Artist
Mall Mutants=nom de guerre of Ypsilanti, MI resident Dustin Krcatovich. The Mall Mutants oeuvre constitutes a multimedia art project exploring textures and tropes of sound poetry, noise, and lonely singer/songwriter twaddle within the context of an ever-more-maximalist lounge act. Reference points include Burroughs and Gysin's "cut-ups", David Lynch and Jim Jarmusch's 1980/90s fetishizations of perverted 1950s Americana, Hasil Adkins, the films of Guy Maddin, the spiritual/philosophical thrust of Alan Watts, the humor of Henry Jacobs, the draftsmanship of Chad Woody, the devil-may-care postmodernist populism of early John Barth, the absurd pomposity of Bill Murray, the pompous absurdity of Marcel Duchamp, and the rumbling/crying guitar of Ron Asheton.
