Artist
Maldoror is the one-time project of Mike Patton & Masami Akita aka Merzbow. It has been the third release on Patton's own Ipecac Recordings. Stylistically the music can be described as noise, with the obvious, pretty sick, merzbow touch. All electronics, no melody, (almost) no beats, just pure mayhem. The name of this group was inspired by Comte De Lautreamont's book "The Chants Of Maldoror" which has been published in the 19th century, and was a major influence on artists like Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, and countless other artists of this period, the so called surrealists. The book is divided into six cantos, as is the cd, only that the cd has 13 cantos. All in all, one could hope for a second incarnation of Maldoror.
