Malaa (Alter Ego) is the alias of anonymous French DJ and producer Malaa. When first introduced in 2024, Malaa’s Alter Ego caused chaos online, disrupting the status quo by challenging Malaa and calling him out in a series of controversial social media posts. The intense rivalry is all part of a larger narrative that encourages fans to “Choose your side and spread the word,” amplifying the anticipation for what is set to be one of the most unique campaigns in electronic music. At the same time, a double album was released and featured two distinct styles: one side staying true to Malaa’s iconic dark, bass-heavy house sound, while the other side, curated by Malaa’s Alter Ego, will explore new sonic territories, breaking away from Malaa’s signature style. This juxtaposition will offer fans a deeper look into the creative duality of the artist and provide a fresh, unexpected twist that challenges the boundaries of his established music style. Malaa, a DJ and producer, burst onto the scene in 2015, captivating audiences with his enigmatic persona concealed behind a balaclava. Playing off his anonymity, he established himself by releasing music on Tchami’s Confession label, starting with his debut EP, “Illicit,” in 2016. This was followed by his immensely popular single, “Notorious,” and since then, Malaa has shown no signs of slowing down.
