The most vital art is always made at intersections: technology and tradition… silence and volume… sacred and profane… Maida Vale lives and thrives at these intersections. Forming in mid-2007 in a town that's far from attentive to their genre, Maida Vale is already impressing listeners with its thoughtful arrangements and well-crafted songs. Playing empathetically and with a dynamic sensibility rarely present in today's music, Maida Vale's earthy, cinematic soundscapes leave a haunting and lasting impression while still retaining appeal for those who “just want to hear a good song”. The members of Maida Vale have individually made their musical footprint in the past, having experience in touring, engineering, and production. Each member could easily front his own project, but the group prefers to walk the more difficult path of collaboration. The resulting music definitely bears the mark of this "strength through diversity" approach. In the late summer of 2007, Maida Vale began writing and entered Pixel Studios in Tallahassee simply intending to capture the initial creative energy. One week later the band had emerged with a three song EP. Released on October 5—also the day of their debut show—the record immediately rose to 41 in iTunes’ “Folk” genre, and was prominently featured alongside new releases by Bob Dylan and David Gray.
