about

Hailing from the UK and Italy, Magpie Wedding live in the walled city of Bologna and play contaminated folk, full of vintage bass distortion, baroque piano, and clumsy acoustic guitar. Imagine Slint fronted by Vashti Bunyan. Imagine Shirley Collins singing with the Arcade Fire. Formed in mid-2007, the band recorded their self-funded debut EP, Torches, in mid-2008 with former drummer Emanuela and violinist Eleonora at Alpha Dept in Italy. Presented in handmade eco-friendly packaging with cover art by Michelle Enemark, Torches was self-released on 16 March 2009 via the band’s own Starling Tunnel label. For now, it is available to buy at their gigs or from their website at www.magpiewedding.com. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
