Jaki Liebezeit and Ian Tregoning present Evolver their debut album as Magnetik North. Recorded in Köln by Kumo in 2006, Magnetik North is a fusion of live drums, acoustic instruments and electronic sequencing. Other guest musicians include Lee Harris (from Talk Talk) - a long-term fan of Jaki’s who adds his own explosive percussion. Drum performances are fed through samplers and sequencers to produce layers of rhythm. Sounds and textures are processed so that only the harmonic content remains. The results are a hypnotic blend of industrial, classical, Krautrock and Detroit electro. Like listening to a ‘raga in an earthquake’.
