From the band's website: Formed during a chance meeting at a Country Kitchen, Mad Crush has been entertaining crowds in Northeastern Ohio for roughly five years. J. Douglas Ramsey (Bass) and Criss Baron (Guitar) came across Dusty McDonald (Vocals) and Rodney Frasier (Drums) and the evening's conversation led into the beginnings of a project. Shortly afterwards, Mark Hochstetler joined on guitar, and Kevin Gray replaced Ramsey on bass. With a slew of covers, a number of originals, and a name, Mad Apple quickly became a staple at a number of popular clubs in the greater Akron area. In 2000, Dusty parted ways with the band and Criss took over lead vocal duties. Within weeks, Mad Apple was a headlining attraction. Work progressed on the band's debut CD, Disillusioned. By the end of 2001, the band had completed the CD in their own studio, Elephant Records. A small run of CDs were made for sale to the crowds and regular supporters of the band. However, after the CD release in February of 2002, Mark and Kevin decided to cordially part ways with Mad Apple due to a conflict of interests. After a long and painstaking search to replace the two lost members, (that included brief stints with Sean "Don't Call Me Ace" Fraley, M.Scott Miller, and Mark Hochstetler, among others) the band struck gold with bass player Chad Vincent, who shared their musical vision.
