MONSTA X (몬스타엑스) is a South Korean boy group under Starship Entertainment, formed in 2015. Currently consisting of Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon (DJ H.ONE), JOOHONEY and I.M. Originally a seven-member group, WONHO left in October 2019. Before their debut, the boys participated in the survival show NO.MERCY. The group name has the double meaning of monsters conquering the K-pop scene and my star (MON means 'my' in French). X is an unknown existence. They officially debuted through M! Countdown on May 14, 2015, with "무단침입 (Trespass)". Their first music show trophy came with "DRAMARAMA" through The Show on November 14, 2017, while the album, THE CODE, peaked at #1 on the Gaon Album Chart. They released their first Japanese-only single "SPOTLIGHT" on January 10, 2018. In February 2020, Monsta X's first English album All About Luv ranked number five on the US Billboard 200 and number seven on the US Rolling Stone Top 200. Since debut, Monsta X has been known for their aggressive style, combining elements of hip hop, EDM and pop. This aggressive style with "tracks centred around loud, clattering, electronic instrumentals, vicious rap verses, and striking vocals" has been influential across the fourth generation of K-pop.
