Malik Trey, born 18/05/77 in Stendal. Joined school-band „No Name Project“ as a drummer, keyboard player, lead- and background vocalist at the age of 14 in 1991. Played numerous gigs in the region and beyond. The band existed until 1993. In 1994 Malik Trey began to make electronic music. Immediately he mastered the fundamental techniques of computer-based composition and developed an intuition for the rythmic and harmonic alignment of electronic instruments. Malik remained dedicated to the learning-process until electronica Label „Corrosive Media“ discovered him in 1999 and advanced his career with an appearance on the „EVO SONIC“ radio station. Having made innumerable live appearances he founded the electro-acoustic band project „[atritst]Tonmenschen“ together with Raik Hildebrandt and a host of guest musicians. During this time he met a number of interesting people who expanded his musical horizon considerably. While in Spain for 10 months in 2001 Malik managed to study the country’s traditional music with its many fascinating scales and rythms. This musical sabbatical has contributed greatly to his compositions, which have gained a sense of maturity. „Tonmenschen“ came to an end in 2003 but managed to achieve great popularity and secure a song on a compilation CD. At 27 years of age, Malik joined the (Computer) DemoScene where he is responsible for the „musical landscaping“ of group-projects such as the ATLANTIS group and the NUANCE group.
