M:G (born Maribel Gonzalez in San Francisco, California) is a freestyle/dance music singer from the ’90s. During her high school years, M:G joined her school choir where she not only developed her voice talent, but met fellow dance singer Angelina. In the spring of 1997, a demo of her singing a Madonna cover attracted the attention of a mixer at San Francisco radio station WiLD 94.9 who passed it on to Classified Records and was signed to the label the day after. During that same year, M:G released her debut single, “Make A Little Noise” which didn’t make any impact on the charts. In 1998, she released her follow-up single, “Sweet Honesty” which received overwhelming response at WiLD 9.49 and later became the most requested song on the station. The song peaked at #91 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #7 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, staying on the chart for 22 weeks. The success of “Sweet Honesty” led to M:G performing in California, Nevada and Texas; she has also performed with various artists such as Angelina, LL Cool J, Mase, INOJ, Kai, K-Ci & JoJo, Sylk-E. Fine, Tamia, Jon B., Voices of Theory, Nu Flavor, Zapp & Roger, Spanish Fly and Pinay. During that same year, M:G released her debut studio album, “Make a Little Noise” which didn’t make the charts.
