Lusitanian Ghosts is a musical collective experimenting with regional Portuguese cordophone instruments, some of which have nearly become extinct. The Amarantina, Beiroa, Braguesa, Campaniça, Terceirense, Toeira… they are the real Lusitanian Ghosts. The collective assembled by Portuguese-Canadian Neil Leyton on the west coast of Portugal, just north of Lisbon, includes longtime collaborator Micke Ghost, a Swede who has learned to play the Amarantina; João Sousa on drums and percussion; Vasco Ribeiro Casais aka Omiri on the Braguesa as well as the Swedish medieval instrument Nyckelharpa; O Gajo, who is re-inventing the Campaniça; and Primitive Reason's Abel Beja on the Terceira. Their debut album is coming in June 2018. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
