Lunatic High was formed as a four-piece band in 2003. Dan, Ben, Mark and Tom had been friends since the age of 10, but fell out of touch on and off throughout high school, until their interest in similar types of music brought them back together. The band went on to record a few demos and over time grew into a very skilled and comprehensive emo/metal quartet, with Dan on vocals/guitar, Ben on guitar, Mark on bass, and Tom on drums. In 2004 they all graduated from high school, and education-wise the band all went their separate ways. This led Dan and Tom to Nightfly Studios in Southend, were they were pursuing more knowledge of music on a course called Access To Music. During the first year of college, Dan played in a band called Butt Buffkin with drummer/vocalist Brandon. Although after a year things didn't work out and Bufkin split due to musical differences, Dan and Brandon formed a friendship that wasn't as ill-fated as the band that originally brought them together. Through Dan, Brandon was also introduced to Tom, and the three of them spent alot of time together at college, and eventually Brandon asked to audition to be the new singer for Lunatic High. The change came quite naturally, as Brandon was already used to working musically with two of the four members of LH, and discovered that Mark and Ben (which he had already met briefly) were also very easy to get along with, and thus the last and final member of Lunatic High found his place amongst the band.
