Luminary Youth is a music producer specializing in spacey, ambient beats with soul; with a sound influenced by hip hop legends such as J Dilla, Pete Rock, and 9th Wonder. Even though his roots, like many classic producers, were developed on the Akai MPC 2000xl, Luminary Youth performs with a modern flare colored from envelope-pushing beatsmiths such as Flying Lotus and Star Slinger. Aiming to give birth to organic beats that still sound like they were conceived in the astral plane, Luminary Youth works to blend multiple genres, with influences ranging from Swedish experimental hardcore heroes Refused to the cerebral soundscapes of Boards of Canada, mixing various elements into one coherent package. His first show was playing with Bonobo and Tokimonsta, and since then he has shared the stage with phenoms such as Daedelus and Shlohmo, among others.
