Artist
Ludwig Daser (born around 1526 in Munich; died March 27, 1589 in Stuttgart) was a German Kapellmeister and composer. Ludwig Daser was educated in the Munich court choir and in 1552 received the position of Kapellmeister. When he converted to Protestantism, he lost this position to Orlando di Lasso and was forced to leave Munich. Since Duke Christoph von Württemberg was one of the leaders of Protestantism at the time, he found employment at the court orchestra in Stuttgart , where he was also entrusted with the position of Kapellmeister in 1572, which he held until his death. Daser created 22 masses , 24 motets and other sacred works. In addition, he composed a four-part Passion in 1578 , the text of which is based on a compilation of all four Gospels.
