Artist
Lucy & the Man is a storytelling folkrock band formed around the singer-songwriter duo Loes van Schaijk and Tim de Man. Their songs give voice to characters like a love-sick cat, a young man from ancient mythology, an elderly lady who visits her senile sister, and a city in the post-communist Slovak Republic. But in the lyrics as well as in the music, all is not what it seems... The band takes their influences from many musical styles and artists, with the storytelling lyrics and the beautiful vocal harmonies as the most striking elements. Loes' voice is often compared to Joni Mitchell and Mary Black, Tim's singing is often compared with that of Billy Joel or James Taylor. Loes being responsible for some catchy country and pop tunes, and Tim being the author of the more edgy compositions, all band members contribute to the sophisticated arrangements that make this band walk a fine line between the genres of folk, singer-songwriter, country and jazz. Loes van Schaijk (vocals, western guitar) Tim (vocals, piano, synthesizers) Hans Visser (double bass, bassguitar) Evelien Keesmaat (alto and soprano saxophones, vocals) Niels Duindam (drums, vocals) http://lucyandtheman.bandcamp.com/album/kaleidoscope-tales http://www.lucyandtheman.eu/lucyandtheman/Intro.html User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
