Lucas Perny (also Lukáš Perný; born 1991) is a Slovak drummer-composer, culturologist-cultural critic and political activist. His musical style has been described as psychedelic, avant-garde and conceptual. At the age of 14 he received the first set of drums from his father, Milan Perny, who was also a drummer. Initially taught by his father, Perny was learning music by mimicking the style of Ringo Starr, John Densmore, Mitch Mitchell, Christian Vander, Robert Wyatt and Jaki Liebezeit. He studied Secondary technical building school in Nitra (Stredná priemyselná škola stavebná v Nitre), cultural studies at the faculty of arts the Constantine the Philosopher University (UKF) in Nitra and then cultural studies at the Comenius University (UK) in Bratislava. An edited and extended version of his thesis on 1960s counterculture was published in book form in 2014 as "Music counterculture at the break of 1960s and 1970s in the culturological perspective" (Slovak: Hudobná kontrakultúra na prelome šesťdesiatych a sedemdesiatych rokov 20. storočia v kulturologickej perspektíve I.). His second monography Cultural revolution of Ladislav Novomesky was published in 2017. He also frequently publishes articles on culture, art, philosophy, left wing politics and cultural anthropology in various journals and portals notably in "Studia Politica Slovaca" published by Slovak Academy of Sciences, but also in Slovo left wing literary weekly.
