Low Horizon is based in Houston, Texas. Their debut single, "Just Fine b/w After Party" was self-released on February 28, 2017. In a review, Here Comes the Flood noted the lo-fi nature of the recordings before concluding "the songs have an irresistible charm." On March 14, they revealed that their EP "Four Songs too Long" would be released on April 21, 2017 and released "Funeral" as a single on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. Funeral was named one of the "5 Best New Songs of the Week" by Beautiful Freaks and one of the "5 Things We Liked this Week" by For the Rabbits, the latter of whom described the song as "a very promising start, from a band well worth keeping an eye on." "Four Songs too Long" was released on April 21, 2017 and received positive reviews from several music blogs. The Album Wall praised the band's "sloppy, chunky blend of pop-punk and garage rock music," synth-y instrumentation, and "jolly lyrics about death and grieving and stuff." Emerging Indie Bands described the EP as a "wide ranging journey of sound," while Here Comes the Flood noted the dichotomy of the lyrics and uplifting "blend of noise, garage and grunge rock."
